About Christian Awe

Being inspired by music, dance, urban influences and elements of nature, Christian Awe's works fascinate with their color intensity and dynamics. By combining colors and forms with ease and painterly virtuosity, Awe creates moments of freedom and joie de vivre for the viewer.

Whether in exhibitions or as oversized, more than 500 m² murals in Tokyo, Miami, Berlin, Frankfurt and Palma de Mallorca - with his works, the artist blurs the boundaries between imagination and reality in a play of light and shadow. The seemingly three-dimensional color landscapes of his "water paintings" appear photo-realistic, almost as though they were printed. They captivate by their artistic ingenuity as each drop of water is painted by hand.

Energetic streams of color and powerful splashes give the works an incomparable passionate intensity. Paired with airy, floating gestures, they merge into an intense dialog of spontaneity, experiment and artistic calculation and thus create a sensuality one can hardly escape.

Various levels appeal to the senses at first glance. Looking closer, however, they allow us to see and feel much more and always something new, and we are drawn into a cosmos of colors and emotions.
